Dara Schoolcraft Wins SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor for CMS Women's Water Polo

CLAREMONT, Calif. - After her first day of collegiate competition, central defender Dara Schoolcraft earned the SCIAC Women's Water Polo Defensive Player of the Week Award for the CMS women's water polo team, the league office announced today.

Schoolcraft had a key role in helping CMS to a dominant 18-2 win over SCIAC rival Occidental in a neutral site match held at USC. She anchored a defense that allowed only two goals with three different goalies playing behind her over the course of the contest.

At the other end of the pool, she also scored three goals and added an assist, giving her the rare honor as a defender of outscoring the opposing team by herself. The Athenas were able to bounce back from a defeat to top-ranked USC in the first match of the day to come away with the opening day split. 

CMS will have two weeks off before resuming action on Feb. 18, when it travels to the Redlands Invitational.
