Usual suspects take care of business for volleyball

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – On Saturday night at Occidental's Rush Gym, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's volleyball team won three sets in a row to beat the Tigers (25-19, 25-21, 25-11). The Athenas' defense held Occidental to a mere .058 hitting percentage on the night as the team combined for 12 block assists and 51 digs.

Leading the blocking efforts was sophomore Hannah Grobisen (CMC) who tallied four on the night. Grobisen is second on the team behind junior Mariah Rigg (CMC) who added two assisted blocks tonight. Senior Nicole Kerkhof (CMC) and junior Mikena Werner (SC) handled the majority of the digs in the match, both in double figures. Kerkhof also recorded 10 kills to make this her 11th match this season at double digit kills and digs.

While Kerkhof led the team in volume of kills, junior Margaux Arntson (CMC) put up a big percentage again at .312. Arntson leads the team and is third in the SCIAC for hitting percentage. She has hit an astounding .380 in conference play this season.
