LEXINGTON, Ky. – On the eve of the start of the NCAA Tournament, junior outside hitter Nicole Kerkhof (CMC), sophomore libero Mikena Werner (SCR) and head coach Kurt Vlasich earned all-region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Kerkhof was named to the first team while Werner was an honorable mention. Vlasich was tabbed as the West Region Coach of the year for the second time in his career, the first being in the 2013 season.

Kerkhof earns her first AVCA Regional award. She leads CMS with 353 kills on the season, averaging 3.43 per set for a .257 percentage. Werner leads all players in the SCIAC with 547 digs for 5.16 per set. Both Kerkhof and Werner were named to the SCIAC all-conference first team this year as well.

In his fifth season at the helm of the Athenas, Vlasich led the team to the program's fourth SCIAC championship and defeated Cal Lutheran to win the program's first ever SCIAC Postseason Tournament Championship. Vlasich has been ranked in every AVCA Coaches Poll this season and currently ranked a season-high seventh.
