Coleman chosen as AVCA’s D-III Women’s Player of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – For her efforts in leading the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team to a 3-0 week which included an upset win over No. 2 Cal Lutheran, senior libero Megan Coleman has been selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Women's Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 20-26.
Against Cal Lu, Coleman had 24 digs and six assists with four of the digs coming in the decisive fifth set. For the week she totaled 68 digs and 10 assists in wins over Cal Lu (24 digs), at Pomona-Pitzer (21 digs) and Occidental (23 digs). Against Occidental she also had four service aces.
In 2014, Coleman is averaging 5.84 digs per set which ranks 21st in Division III (Through Oct. 19 matches). Coleman is the first representative this season from the NCAA Division III West Region to be selected as the AVCA D-III Player of the Week.
