Three set sweep of Whittier

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team beat Whittier in straight sets (25-15, 25-18, 25-14) on Saturday night in the Linde Activities Center. The Athenas improve to 18-5, 9-2 in SCIAC, still tied with La Verne.

The match was characterized by many long rallies and increased success in blocking for the Athenas. The team combined for seven blocks, four of which freshman Mariah Rigg was involved in.

In the match, junior Audrey Breitwieser led the Athenas with 12 kills and only two errors for a .400 kill percentage. Senior Megan Coleman had 18 digs in the three sets, consistent with her current 5.8 digs per set.

CMS next plays top seeded Cal Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21 in the Linde Activities Center.
