CMS Finishes 3-1 In Pacific Coast Classic

The Athenas volleyball team opened their season hosting the Pacific Coast Classic and finished the tournament with a 3-1 record.  Emily Hudson, the team's only senior, was selected to the All-Tournament Team after leading the team in kills (52) and aces (8).

CMS opened the tournament on a rough note losing to #25 Wartburg College in straight sets 25-18, 25-21, 25-21, but battled back to defeat Simpson College in their second match 27-25, 21-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-9.  The team found their stride on the second day with straight set wins over Willamette University (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) and Berry College (25-22, 25-23, 25-18).

After Hudson's 52 kills followed Regina Mullen with 27 and Bennett Jones with 26.  Hilary Bruegl and Taylor Jones split time at setter with each averaging over nine assists per set.  Courtney Searls led the team with nine blocks.  Megan Coleman was outstanding in her debut as libero averaging over five digs per set.

The Athenas return to action Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00 pm.  They will take on Chapman University at home in Ducey Gymnasium.
