Riley Capuano Earns SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Riley Capuano of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team earned the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week award for events through Sunday, April 21, the conference office announced today.

Capuano competed at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday in the 1500 meters, and moved up spots into third place on the all-time list at CMS with a 4:28.83, which also placed her in second place at the meet, behind only Sam Poglitsch of Division I Illinois (4:26.47).

Capuano also moved up to fifth in the nation this season with her time as well. Natalie Bitetti currently ranks third in the nation, while Laura Zimmer places 11th. 

Bitetti and Zimmer have also captured the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week this season, along with Josephine Jett, who has earned it twice. Antonia Hekster has also earned the SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor. 

CMS will be back in action this weekend when it tries to win its eighth straight SCIAC title on Saturday and Sunday at Pomona-Pitzer.
