Riley Capuano Moves into Third in CMS History in 1500 Meters

WALNUT, Calif. - Riley Capuano took almost five seconds off her PR in the 1500 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays, moving up into third place on the all-time list at CMS with a 4:28.83.

Capuano moved up from eighth to third all-time at CMS with her run, which put her in second place at the meet, behind only Sam Poglitsch of Division I Illinois (4:36.47).

The school record of 4:26.59 was actually set earlier this season by Natalie Bitetti, while Laura Zimmer ran the sixth-best time at CMS with a 4:31.34. Zimmer was also in action at the Mt. SAC Relays and came in sixth place, with only runners from Kansas State, Oklahoma and Arizona in between her and Capuano.

Capuano moved up to fifth in the nation this season with her time as well, pending other results from around the country. Bittetti's time, which was set two weeks ago at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, places her third, while Zimmer is in ninth, giving the Athenas three of the current top 10.

CMS will be back in action next weekend for the SCIAC Championships at Pomona-Pitzer, where they will try to win their eighth league title in a row.
