Antonia Hekster Takes SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week Accolades for Athenas

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Antonia Hekster of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team earned the SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week award for events through Sunday, March 24, the conference office announced today.

Hekster was the champion in the hammer throw with a top distance of 153'2", winning by almost six inches over Shona Christensen of Cal Poly Pomona. It ranks as the No. 14 throw in all of Division III so far this season. 

Hekster becomes the fourth honoree for the women's track and field team this year, joining Track Athlete of the Week winners Josephine Jett (twice) and Laura Zimmer. She is also the fourth thrower, combining the men's and women's programs, joining Sarath Kakani (twice) and Kaden Cassidy of the Stags. 

CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts the second SCIAC Multi-Dual on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Burns Track Complex.
