Seifert Ties for First in Pole Vault at Redlands Invitational for Athenas

REDLANDS, CA - Madeline Seifert tied for first place in the pole vault with a top clearance of 3.35 meters (10'11 3/4") to highlight the performance of the CMS women's track and field team on Friday at the Redlands Invitational.

In addition, Josephine Jett moved up one spot in CMS history in the 100-meter hurdles, and Katelyn Sewell moved into 10th place in school annals in the discus, placing fourth with a throw of 129'10".

Jett finished in second in the hurdles with a time of 14.81, moving her up from seventh place to sixth in CMS history. The all-time record of 14.36 was set in 2013 by Rose Lewis. Shriya Velichala also had a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.78.

In the other throws, Antonia Hekster came in third place in the hammer throw with a distance of 152 feet, eight inches, Georgia Arnold was eighth in the javelin at 95 feet, two inches, and Eleanor Champlin-Wilson was eighth in the shot put at 35' 6.75" for the Athenas.

Lucy Konsmo earned sixth (out of 20) in the 400 meters, finishing in 1:01.61, and also led off the 4x400 relay that closed out the meet in second place in 4:11.93, along with Olivia Schleifer, Velichala and Reyna Kleemeier

Simone Rogers finsihed third in the high jump by matching her PR with a clearance of 5'1", which tied for the highest at the event, but the two competitors who were tied with her finished ahead in the tiebreaker, due to fewer misses at earlier heights.

CMS will be back in action in two weeks when it hosts the second SCIAC Multi-Dual at the Burns Track Complex.
