Josephine Jett Earns SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Honors for Second Time

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Josephine Jett of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team earned the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week honor for events through Sunday, March 3, the conference office announced today.

It marks the second SCIAC award already for Jett, who is in her first-year season competing for the Athenas in the sprints and hurdles. This week, she won all three of her individual events to help the Athenas sweep the first SCIAC Multi-Duals, which were held at Occidental.

Jett ran a 15.21 in the 100-meter hurdles, a time which ranks her third in the nation in the early part of the outdoor track and field season, while her 12.67 time in the 100 meters places her eighth, and her 26.71 in the 200 meters set a personal best and puts her in 18th place.

The award marks the third Track Athlete of the Week honor for CMS already this season, including one for Laura Zimmer, who will be part of the Athena distance medley relay team that will compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships this coming weekend.

CMS will also have the majority of its team in action this weekend at the annual Occidental Sprint and Distance Carnival.
