Caroline DelVecchio Wins SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Honor for Athenas.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Caroline DelVecchio of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team took home the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week honor for events through Sunday, March 5, the league office announced today.

DelVecchio swept the hurdles events, both of which are the top times in D3 so far, and anchored the winning 4x400 relay as CMS went 3-0 at its first Multi-Dual, defeating Redlands, Caltech and Cal Lutheran. The Redlands win was by just seven points, making DelVecchio's hurdles wins (by .32 in the 100 hurdles and 1.88 in the 400 over Bulldogs in second), and her anchor leg of the 4x400 to defeat Redlands by 2.85 seconds, all significant towards swinging the result in CMS' favor.

DelVecchio, who earend All-America honors last year in the 400 hurdles, joins Emily Burger, who won the Field Athlete of the Week honor, on the list of Athena honorees so far on the young season.

CMS will be back in action at the Occidental Distance and Sprint Carnival this weekend.
