Five Athenas Named All-SCIAC, Selby Earns League's Character Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team had five players earn All-SCIAC honors, with senior Sena Selby adding the SCIAC Characater Award, the league office announced today.

Alisha Chulani, Lindsay Eisenman and Audrey Yoon earn spots on the All-SCIAC second team for the Athenas, who are 21-0 and are ranked No. 1 in the nation, while Selby and Nikolina Batoshvili captured second-team accolades.

Chulani was an All-American in both singles and doubles last year while helping CMS to its second straight national title. She has a 15-3 singles record this year including 12-2 in dual matches, and has added a 21-4 doubles record, including 16-1 at No. 1 doubles when paired with Batoshvili. She has twice been named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week, including last week after a dominant singles win against Pomona-Pitzer in a battle between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation.

Eisenman earned All-America honors in doubles last year and will earn it in singles this season after winning the ITA West Region singles championship in a close three-setter over Yoon, and reaching the finals of the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia. She currently has a 15-5 singles record, including 8-4 in duals.

Yoon was an All-America selection in singles last season, and also competed at the ITA Cup this year in the fall. Her overall record in singles is 18-4, including 12-2 in singles, and she earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors after providing the clinching point in a 5-4 win over Emory.

Selby, who won a key singles match in the national championship last year against Chicago, has a 16-3 record in singles this season, including 14-2 in duals. She is also 15-3 in doubles this season, with undefeated records playing with both Yoon (7-0) and Muduo Zhou (4-0).

Batoshvili has been All-American in doubles both seasons, and has won singles matches in both CMS national championships, including the clincher last year in a 5-3 win over Chicago. She studied abroad in the fall, and is 9-2 in singles in the spring, while compiling a 16-2 doubles record since being reunited with Chulani, who she has won All-America honors with twice.
