CMS Women's Tennis Rolls Past Chapman For 15th Straight Win

ORANGE, Calif. - Alisha Chulani and Audrey Yoon each won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team defeated Chapman 9-0 on Saturday for its 15th straight win.

With the win, CMS now stands at 19-1 on the year and 6-0 in SCIAC, as it heads into next weekend's regular season finale with fellow unbeaten Pomona-Pitzer.

CMS earned the doubles sweep, as Lindsay Eisenman and Ella Brissett were perfect at No. 3 with an 8-0 win. Sena Selby and Katherine Wurster earned an 8-2 win at No. 2, and Chulani teamed with Nikolina Batoshvili for an 8-3 win at No. 1.

Batoshvili and Eisenman almost joined Chulani and Yoon with perfect singles matches, but each won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Brissett earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 and Selby won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4, as CMS combined lost only eight games in six singles matches.

The match at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday (1:30 p.m.) will determine the regular season title and the right to host the SCIAC Championship match, should the teams meet again. A year ago, Pomona-Pitzer won the regular season meeting at CMS, while the Athenas won the rematch at Pomona-Pitzer in the SCIAC finals, on their way to the national title.
