Run for CMS doubles team ends as “Super Bowl” runner-up

SUMTER, S.C. – After winning the doubles national title at the Division III National Small College Championships on Oct. 11, junior Caroline Ward and sophomore Katie Kuosman went on and competed in the "Super Bowl" which pitted the winners of the Division II, Division III, NAIA and Junior College levels against each other.

The "Super Bowl" featured four teams and the CMS duo won its semifinal match on Oct. 11 and then lost in the championship match on Oct 12. In the semifinals, Kuosman and Ward defeated the NAIA team of Anastasia Baranova and Kateryna Shkot from Oklahoma Baptist University 7-5, 7-5. On the final day of competition in the championship match, CMS was defeated 6-4, 6-1 by Linda Fritschken and Emma Onila of Division II Barry University who won the event for the second year in a row.

The Small College Championships complete the fall portion of the Athenas 2014-15 schedule.
