CMS Women's Swimming and Diving celebrating the SCIAC Championship

CMS Women's Swimming and Diving Jumps into Top 10 in Latest National Poll

CLAREMONT, Calif. - After taking the SCIAC Championship last weekend, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team moved up three spots to No. 10 in the latest poll from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), which was released today.

The Athenas head to the NCAA Division III Championships in two weeks with optimism that they can score among the elite teams in the nation. Denison, Kenyon and Emory, ranked 1-2-3 in the poll, remain the favorites to battle it out for the national championship, but CMS is in good position to improve greatly on its 22nd-place finish from last year with 11 swimmers attending, including five who qualified in individual events.

Sophomore Augusta Lewis is expected to challenge for the finals in all three of her events (200 IM, 400 IM, 200 breast), as is Ava Sealander in both of hers (50 free, 100 fly). First-year Jameson Mitchum jumped up to eighth in the nation in the 200 back after her SCIAC Championship, while first-years Gracey Heibert and Ella Blake moved into the top 20 in the 1650 with their 1-2 finish at SCIACs.

The future of the program looks even brighter, as CMS did not have any seniors among its scoring swimmers at the SCIAC Championships.
