CMS Women's Swimming and Diving Earns Fall Scholar All-America Team Distinction

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team earned Scholar All-America Team honors for the fall semester from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America, the organization announced today.

Scholar All-America Team distinction is given to any program that compiles a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the semester. The Athenas easily passed that threshold in the fall, earning a 3.48 as a team.

The success for CMS has extended to both the pool and the classroom, as the Athenas are currently ranked No. 11 in the country in Division III by the CSCAA. CMS began the year ranked No. 16, but has moved up thanks in large part to a dual win over nationally ranked Pomona-Pitzer in December. CMS currently is 6-0 in the SCIAC with the final league regular season meet coming up this weekend at Whittier (with Occidental).

The program will host the CMS Invitational next week on Feb. 8 as its final tuneup before the SCIAC Championships, which will be held later this month. Axelrood Pool will host the SCIAC Diving Championships on Feb. 14-15, and then the swimming portion of the SCIAC Championships will be held from Feb. 19-22 in Commerce, Calif., where sophomore Augusta Lewis (IM/Breaststroke) will try for another big performance to earn her second SCIAC Swimmer of the Year Award.
