First day of NCAA Championships in the books as Athenas tied for 21st

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Behind the swimming of senior Michele Kee in the 200-yard individual medley, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swim team is tied for 21st with seven points after the first day of the NCAA Championships on March 19 at the IU Natatorium.

Kee finished in 10th place overall – second in the consolation finals – with a time of 2:04.59, just over a second better than her preliminary time from earlier in the day and just over a second off her school and SCIAC record time of 2:03.79 in the event.

In preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle, junior Molly Loftus finished in 29th with a time of 5:02.99. In the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries, senior Helen Liu (23.90) and freshman Kelly Ngo (23.91) finished in 30th and 31st, respectively.

The Athenas closed out the preliminaries with the 200-yard medley relay and the team of Kee, Liu, senior Erin MacLean and senior Annika Jessen finished in 18th with a time of 1:45.79.
