First day of NCAA Championships in the books as Athenas tied for 21st

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Behind the swimming of senior Michele Kee in the 200-yard individual medley, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swim team is tied for 21^st with seven points after the first day of the NCAA Championships on March 19 at the IU Natatorium.

Kee finished in 10^th place overall – second in the consolation finals – with a time of 2:04.59, just over a second better than her preliminary time from earlier in the day and just over a second off her school and SCIAC record time of 2:03.79 in the event.

In preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle, junior Molly Loftus finished in 29^th with a time of 5:02.99. In the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries, senior Helen Liu (23.90) and freshman Kelly Ngo (23.91) finished in 30^th and 31^st, respectively.

The Athenas closed out the preliminaries with the 200-yard medley relay and the team of Kee, Liu, senior Erin MacLean and senior Annika Jessen finished in 18^th with a time of 1:45.79.
