Athenas In Seventh Place After Two Days At NCAA Championships

After two of four days of competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, the Athenas are in seventh place with 77 points.  All five Athenas competing in the meet have earned All-American honors.

Michele Kee and Katie Bilotti have both earned individual All-American honors by finishing in the top eight.  Kee finished fourth in the 200 Individual Medley on day one with a CMS and SCIAC record time of 2:03.79.  Bilotti finished sixth in the 100 Butterfly on day two with a time of 55.76.  This was her fourth straight All-American honor in the 100 Fly.  Kee earned Honorable Mention All-American honors (9th-16th) in the 100 Fly finishing 12th with a time of 56.16.

The 200 Medley Relay team of Elsa Cheng, Emma Jones, Bilotti and Helen Liu finished sixth overall with a time of 1:44.85.  This is the fourth straight year that CMS' 200 medley relay earned All-American honors with Bilotti and Jones on all four teams and Cheng and Liu on last year's relay.

The 200 Free Relay team of Kee, Bilotti, Jones and Liu missed making the championship final by 0.05 seconds in the morning of day two, but came back to dominate the consolation final and finish ninth with a CMS and SCIAC record time of 1:34.80.  Their time would have been fifth in the championship final.

The 400 Medley Relay team of Cheng, Jones, Bilotti and Kee had the eight fastest time (3:51.97) in the prelims of day two, but were disqualified.  The time would have been good for sixth in the final.

On day three, Kee will compete in the 200 Butterfly and Bilotti and Cheng will compete in the 100 Backstroke.  On the final day, the team of Kee, Bilotti, Jones and Liu will compete in the 400 Free Relay.
