Athenas Dominating After Two Days At SCIAC Championships

The eight-time defending champion Athenas hold a commanding lead after the second of three days at the SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships.  CMS has 766.5 points, 328.5 points ahead of second place Redlands.  The Athenas have won nine of the 14 events contested.

Michele Kee has won two individual events and anchored three winning relays.  She won the 200 Individual Medley in a CMS and SCIAC record time of 2:05.08 and also won the 100 Butterfly.  She anchored the winning 200 Free Relay, 400 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay.  The 200 Free Relay of Helen Liu, Jenni Rinker, Kristie Howard and Kee set a CMS and SCIAC record with a time of 1:34.91.  Liu also set the CMS record (23.82) in the 50 Free leading off.  The 400 Medley Relay was Tessa Dover, Emma Jones, Katie Bilotti and Kee, the 800 Free Relay was Rinker, Tara McIntyre, Carliann Brashier and Kee and the 200 Medley Relay, which also won, was Elsa Cheng, Jones, Bilotti and Liu.  Rinker won the SCIAC title in the 50 Free, Bilotti won her third straight 100 Backstroke title and Carmen Lundell won the 1 Meter Diving title.

CMS finished second in six of the 10 individual events completed including Dover in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Backstroke, Liu in the 50 Free, Bilotti in the 100 Butterfly, Jones in the 100 Breaststroke and Heidi Wolfgruber in the 400 Individual Medley.

NCAA 'A' qualifying times were achieved by Kee in the 200 IM and 100 Fly, by the 400 Medley Relay and by Bilotti in the 100 Fly.  NCAA 'B' qualifying times were achieved by Lundell in 3M Diving, Dover in the 200 IM and 100 Back, Rinker in the 50 Free and 100 Back, Liu in the 50 Free and 100 Fly, Cheng in the 100 Fly and 100 Back, Wolfgruber in the 400 IM, Jones in the 100 Breast, Bilotti in the 100 Back, Erin MacLean in the 100 Fly, Annika Jessen in the 100 Fly and by the 200 Free, 800 Free and 200 Medley relays.
