Rhiann Holman Named SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week for CMS Women's Soccer

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Claremont-Mudd-Scripps senior midfielder Rhiann Holman earned the first SCIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for the 2019 season, the league office announced today.

Holman had a key role in helping CMS get off to a 2-0 start to the young season, tallying two goals and two assists for six points. She began the year with two goals and an assist in a 6-0 win over Johnson & Wales on Friday, and then came back a day later to pick up a key second half assist on a crossing pass for an insurance goal in a 2-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan.

With her six points, Holman takes an early lead in the SCIAC scoring race. If she is able to lead the league in scoring this year, it would mark the second season in a row that she finishes atop the SCIAC scoring table after tallying 10 goals and three assists last year for 23 points. Holman also led the Athenas in scoring as a sophomore in 2017 with 13 points (five goals, three assists) and now has 47 points (19 goals, nine assists) in her career.

CMS will be back in action this weekend when it hosts Pacific Lutheran on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest, and then travels to UC Santa Cruz for an 11 a.m. match on Sunday.
