Tweedy & Kunz highlight NSCAA All-West Region Scholar selections
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Five Athenas were named as All-West Region Scholars by the National Soccer Coaches of America (NSCAA) on Dec. 17. Senior defenders Samantha Kunz (CMC) and Sara Tweedy (HMC) made the first team while senior Molly Freed (Scripps), senior Claire Shum (Scripps) and junior Laura Hayward (CMC) were honorable mentions.
Tweedy boasts a 3.70 GPA as a Chemistry major at Harvey Mudd and Kunz puts up a 3.47 GPA as an Economics and Accounting major at CMC. Freed is an Environmental Analysis major with a 3.90 at Scripps; Hayward is studying Human Biology and has a 3.40 GPA at CMC; Shum has a 3.57 and is studying Anthropology at Scripps. Except for Freed as a goalkeeper, all four other selections are defenders for the Athenas.
