Women's Soccer Celebrates Seniors And A 2-0 Victory

On Friday night CMS (10-5-3) celebrated its very distinguished Senior class and came away with a confidence boosting 2-0 win over the UC Santa Cruz Bananaslugs (1-11-2).

The Athenas came out the night of October 29 to play for their seniors.  Before the game each senior was honored with flowers and their families, and each of their individual and class accomplishments were announced.

The Athenas started out strong with lots of energy and finally found the net off a senior connection.  Arlyn Madsen-Bond (SR, Cambridge, MA) crossed the ball, which Britney Pineros (SR, Mukilteo, WA) redirected.  Meredith Doyle (SR, Hidden Hills) got a foot on the ball and took a shot, and followed her own shot into the back of the goal.  Still in the first half sophomore "Scooby" Lauren Phillips (SO, Longmont, CO) sent a free kick to Madi Shove (SO, Portola Valley), who flicked the ball with her head over the Slug's goalie and into the net.

The second half remained scoreless as the Athenas continued to push, just barely missing the net a couple times.  The Slugs had a few good chances that the Athena's defense stopped.  CMS was able to comeback after a few previous hard defeats to honor their seniors beating the Santa Cruz Slugs 2-0.
