Three Athenas Named To All-SCIAC Lacrosse Team

PASADENA, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced its 2013 Lacrosse All-Conference teams and three Claremont-Mudd-Scripps  players were selected.

Madi Shove was selected to First Team All-SCIAC for the fourth straight year.  She is one of two players to be on the First Team for all four years that the conference has sponsored women's lacrosse.  Shove led the Athenas in all major categories including goals (67), assists (12), points (79), ground balls (41), draw controls (72) and caused turnovers (31).

Christina Sutherland and Kyra Ray were named Second Team All-SCIAC at midfield and defender respectively.  Sutherland shared the team lead in assists with Shove and was second on the team in draw controls (31) and causes turnovers (12).  Ray joined the team after competing on the basketball team during the early part of the lacrosse season and developed into the team's top defender.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
