CMS Women's Golf Comes in Seventh at Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team finished in seventh place out of 24 teams after three rounds of the Jekyll Island Invitational on Sunday.

CMS finished with a +63 over the 54 holes, just behind WashU and Carnegie Mellon in fourth at +55 and Centre College in sixth at +59. 

Esther Lee earned a top-10 finish with a 225 (+9), while Stella Cheng was just outside the top 10 in 11th place with a +10 performance over the three rounds. Sydney Kuo was the individual champion from WashU at +2.

Redlands took the team championship with a +37, after having the low round in the field on Sunday with a 302 (+14). CMS had a 298 in the first round on Friday, which ended up the second-best round that any team had over the three days. 

The Athenas will be back in action in two weeks when they compete at SCIAC No. 2, which will be held on April 1-2 at Mountain Meadows Golf Club in Pomona.
