Men and Women Win Inaugural CMS Invitational
The Stags and Athenas Golf Teams both won the inaugural CMS Invitational at Los Serranos Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. The men scored 580 and the women scored 747.
The Stags dominated the inaugural CMS Invitational at Los
Serranos Country Club from start to finish, running away with a 51
stroke victory over University of Puget Sound and an 87 stroke
margin over Willamette University. Led by Co-Captain John Morris
(JR, Santa Rosa) with rounds of 72 and 69 for a three under par
tournament total, the Stags posted a four over par 580 total (289,
291). Tain Lee (FR, San Juan Capistrano) was second with rounds of
74 and 71 and Michael Liu (FR, Tustin) followed his impressive
first round 68, which included 6 birdies and an eagle on his first
hole as a Stag, with a 76. Co-Captain Kyle Casella (JR, Tiburon)
finished off the score sheet for the Stags with back-to-back rounds
of 75. The Stags took home the top four individual spots in
addition to the team total. The Stags look to build on their
impressive finish over the course of the season, starting at
Brookside Country Club for SCIAC #1 on February 17th.
On the women’s side, the Athenas held on to win their first
ever tournament by a four-stroke margin 747-750 over University of
Puget Sound. Tori Leon from Occidental College won the individual
honors with rounds of 84 and 77. The top player for the Athenas was
Lauren Buchanan (FR, Los Altos) with rounds of 86 and 84. Next up
for the Athenas is the Redlands Tournament on February 21-22.
