Lindsey Cleary, Kate Parrish Earn All-SCIAC Honors, Lauren Longo Wins Ed Baldwin Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior forward Lindsey Cleary (first team) and junior forward Kate Parrish (second team) earned All-SCIAC distinction in a vote of the league's coaches, while senior guard Lauren Longo captured the Ed Baldwin Sportsmanship Award, the league office announced today.

Cleary was a first-team All-SCIAC selection for the second year in a row, after finishing the regular season with averages of 10.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She had a high of 23 points against Nebraska Wesleyan on Nov. 29 at the David Wells Classic, and had a high of 20 points in SCIAC contests against Chapman on Jan. 13. Her 17 points at Cal Lutheran on Jan. 8 also included the game-winning basket with less than a second left in a key early-season road win.

Parrish moved into the starting line-up this season and came through with averages of 10.5 points and a team-high 7.8 rebounds per contest, as well as leading the Athenas with 1.6 blocks. In the Nebraska Wesleyan contest in November, she finished with 27 points and 22 rebounds to establish career highs in both categories, while she also averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds in the two matchups with Pomona-Pitzer.

Cleary and Parrish helped give CMS a dominant inside presence all season, as the Athenas outrebounded their opponents by nine boards per game (44-35) and held their opponents to only 56.2 points per contest.

Longo earned the Ed Baldwin Sportsmanship Award after serving as a captain during her senior season. Longo began her career as a walk-on and she worked her way into a starting role for the 2019-2020 season, starting every game she played in this winter. A biology major at Scripps College, Longo hopes to pursue a medical degree post-graduation, and also holds the position of President of the CMS Student-Athlete Advisory Council.

CMS will open play at the SCIAC Tournament tomorrow when it travels to Whittier for one of two semifinals, while Pomona-Pitzer heads to Redlands in the other one. The two semifinal winners face each other for the SCIAC Championship and the right to earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Saturday evening.
