Balanced scoring leads to win over Raiders

CMS defeated the Milwaukee School of Engineering 89-63 on Tuesday evening as five Athenas scored in double figures. CMS shot 56.4% from the field in the game and 84.0% from the free throw line.

The teams were tied at 20 midway through the first half when the Athenas went on a 13-1 run that broke the game open.  CMS shot 65.5% from the field in the half to lead 46-36.  MSOE cut the lead to eight in the second half, but CMS used another run, this one 12-0, to secure the win.

Kris Brackmann led the Athenas with 17 points, four assists and three steals.  Kailee Severt added 14, Kim Scamman 13, Alyson Young 12 and Claire Donnelly 10.  Young led CMS with eight rebounds in just nine minutes while shooting 4-4 from both the field and the line.

Shaylan Reardon led the Raiders with 19 points while Holly Denfield had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

CMS returns to action on Saturday, January 3.  They will play Redlands in a SCIAC doubleheader at 5:00 in Rains Center with the men playing at 7:00.
