Softball finishes in top-25 for Academic Team Honors from NFCA

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team recorded a 3.501 grade point average in the 2015-16 academic year and earned recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as a Division III All-Academic Team. In NCAA Division III, 92 teams and 1,124 student-athletes here awarded academic honors.

CMS is one of just three teams who placed in the top-25 in the final NFCA poll in June 2016 and the top-25 for academics. The No. 17 Athenas are joined by No. 14 Berry and No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan.

Individually, 12 CMS players were honored: graduated seniors Carlene Roberts (CMC '16), Tara Robinson (CMC '16), Shannon O'Neill (CMC '16) Janelle Shiozaki (CMC '16), current seniors Melanie Carlson (CMC) and Alexa Heydenberk (CMC), current juniors Briana Halle (CMC), Chloe Rodman (CMC), Sarah Whitney (CMC), and Elaine Wang (CMC), and current sophomores Reeve Grobecker (CMC) and Rachel Perley (HMC).
