Single season hits and pitching records broken

CLAREMONT, Calif. – As statistics were examined at the close of the season, single season hits, career wins, career shutouts and career innings pitched records were broken for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team.

This season, sophomore and SCIAC Player of the Year, Tara Robinson had 70 hits breaking Harmony Palmer's (CMC '13) record of 68 hits set just last year during the 2013 season.

Junior and SCIAC First Team pitcher, Hayley Schultz broke three pitching records previously set by recent CMS Hall of Fame inductee Kristine Zoch (CMC '00). Schultz recorded 17 wins this season to boost her career number to 61, beating Zoch's 49 wins. With seven shutouts this year, she totals 20 so far in her three year career topping Zoch's 18. Finally, Schultz has pitched 562 innings vs. the 539.2 that Zoch pitched in her day. Schultz, aided by going deep into the postseason each year, sets these career numbers after just her junior year while Zoch's numbers represent her four year career from 1997-2000.
