Dominant four-win week earns Schultz NFCA and SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Junior pitcher Hayley Schultz of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team tallied four wins during the week and for her efforts, has been named the NFCA Pitcher of the Week and the SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week for the week of March 17-23.

Schultz went 4-0 on the week with a 0.27 ERA in wins against Central (2), Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Occidental. She allowed only one earned run in 26 innings while striking out 21. She beat No. 4 Central twice in three days including one by shutout. Opponents batted just .151 in the four games off of the Los Angeles native. On the season she is 8-1 with a .94 ERA, while CMS is 14-7 overall.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) is the professional growth organization for fastpitch softball coaches from all competitive levels of play.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
