Palmer Named First Team All-American

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their All-American teams on Thursday evening and CMS standout Harmony Palmer was named to the First Team for the second time in her illustrious career.  She was also an NFCA First Team All-American in 2010.

Palmer, a First Team All-SCIAC and NFCA First Team All-West Region selection, led the Athenas in nearly every offensive category including average (.482), on-base percentage (.561), slugging percentage (.662), runs (52), hits (67), doubles (17), triples (4) and stolen bases (25).  She also fielded .967 defensively at second base.  An student-athlete in the truest sense, Palmer also earned Academic All-District honors this season.

"Harmony is the most instinctive ballplayer I've ever coached," stated Head Coach Betsy Hipple.  "Her ability to make the critical play or get the clutch hit puts her among the greatest gamers I've ever coached as well.  But above everything else, Harmony's enjoyment of intense competition, her focus and production when the stakes were highest and team needed her most – these are traits that only come from an elite athlete of Harmony's caliber.  We are going to miss her production on the field, her light-heartedness off the field and the joy of watching one of the best Division III ballplayers in America ply her craft the last four years."

Palmer holds CMS career records in batting average (.422), on-base percentage (.494), runs (162), hits (236), doubles (65) and RBI (58).  She also holds the CMS single season records in the same categories with her best totals coming this season except for doubles (18-2011) and RBI (58-2010)
