Hipple Earns Career Win 300 As CMS Splits With Whittier

WHITTIER, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team earned a doubleheader split on Saturday at Palmer Field in the SCIAC opener for both teams, and in doing so, Athena head coach Betsy Hipple won the 300th game of her 13-year head coaching career.

The Athenas won the first game of the doubleheader 5-3 and then Whittier won the afternoon's second game 6-3. With the split, CMS is now 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in SCIAC while Whittier is 3-1, 1-1 in SCIAC.

Hipple now has a career record of 300-184-1 with 192 of her wins coming at CMS after spending the first five years of her career at Hunter College. Hipple has led the Athenas to the NCAA Championships in each of the last four seasons.
