Cruz Named SCIAC Athlete Of The Week

Julia Cruz (JR, Tustin) has been selected SCIAC Athlete of the Week for the week of March 9-15.  She went 3-1 on the week with an ERA of 0.00. In 18.1 innings, she struck out 15 and walked only one while giving up just 11 hits. She got the win in CMS' 9-0 win over Hendrix allowing two hits and striking out eight in five innings. She got the win in CMS' 8-0 win over Menlo again allowing only two hits. She got the win in CMS' 2-0 road win over Cal Lutheran allowing five hits and striking out four in seven innings. Her lone loss was in relief. She allowed two unearned runs in the eighth inning of a 7-6 loss. On the season, she is 7-1 with a 0.64 ERA. She has 31 strikeouts and more shutouts (4) than walks (3). CMS is 12-3 overall and 6-2 in SCIAC (t1st).
