The Athena Softball team completed a tremendous 2008 regular season winning six of its final eight in two weekends of play. The strong finish earned the squad 2nd place in SCIAC, a standing bettered only three times in the 19 year history of the program.
CMS Ranked Seventh In First Regional Ranking

CMS is ranked seventh in the West Region in the first NCAA regional rankings of the year. This is the first time that CMS (18-8) has been ranked.
Vaughn Breaks Out, Buckett/Weingart Outstanding

In the first half of an exciting SCIAC double-header, the CMS Athenas executed another balanced attack beating seventh ranked University of Redlands 5-4 in 9 innings. The loss was Redlands’ second conference loss on the year, the first also coming to CMS in mid-February.
Athenas Continue Offensive Surge

Players, coaches and fans are enjoying this middle stretch of the softball season as the long promised offensive explosiveness has come to bear. Since March 15, the talented group has shown its propensity for scoring, scoring and scoring some more.

The Athenas continued their strong start with a SCIAC double header sweep of Occidental College, 8-0, 10-2.

Athenas Open Season With Resounding Doubleheader Sweep

CMS opened their 2008 season with dominating wins over visting Cal State East Bay. The Athenas won the first game 10-3 and then trounced the Pioneers 22-0 (five innings) in the second.
