Stags Take High Road in Coyote Challenge Victory

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team outlasted the competition at the Coyote Challenge on Saturday morning, taking first place in a tough field featuring a handful of Division II and NAIA schools. It was the first time the Stags took first place at this meet. CMS had an excellent performance as a team in this year's edition, recording 36 points, 25 points fewer than second-place Azusa Pacific. Three CMS runners finished within the top-10 on the 8K course, led by Thomas D'Anieri (CMC) who finished in fourth with a time of 25:10.1. 

Kevin Huang (HMC) broke out with his first top-five finish of the season, trailing right behind D'Anieri at 25:19.2. Ben Iten (HMC) crossed the line in seventh at 25:30.2.

Gage Hornung (HMC) was the highest finisher among the CMS freshmen, taking 11th at 25:53.9 and Wilson Ives (HMC) was the last CMS runner to record points, crossing in 14th at 25:57.0. 

The Stags will run again at the SCIAC Dual Meet at La Mirada on Friday, September 29 at 4:45 p.m.
