Aidan Nettekoven Earns SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Accolades

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior goalie Aidan Nettekoven of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team earned the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for games through Sunday, Sept. 24, the conference office announced today.

Nettekoven had a key role in the cage as CMS went 4-0 at the CSU Fullerton Invitational, defeating two Division I teams that were receiving votes in the national poll (Air Force, CSU Fullerton). Nettekoven went the distance against the host Titans as the Stags earned a convincing 13-6 run, shutting out CSU Fullerton in the first half on the way to building a 6-0 lead.

In the other three games, Nettekoven split halves to help CMS to three wins, including a 10-8 win over Air Force. He also had seven saves and allowed only one goal in the second half of a win over Austin, and allowed four goals and had four saves in a win over Biola.

CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Chapman for its conference opener, before returning home to host the Gary Troyer Invitational on Friday and Saturday, facing four more Division I teams (Pacific, Wagner, Pepperdine, and a rematch with CSU Fullerton).
