SCIAC coaches pick Stags No. 2 in preseason poll
PASADENA, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released the 2016 SCIAC Preseason Men's Water Polo Coaches Poll and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps has been picked second out of the nine programs in the conference. The preseason rankings were conducted by the SCIAC water polo coaches with each coach predicting the finish of the 2016 season. This is the first year the SCIAC has held preseason polls and they are now planned to become a part of the preseason for all 21 conference-sponsored sports moving forward.
Last season CMS won the program's 26th conference championship (its first since 2012) and the SCIAC's automatic bid into the National Collegiate Men's Water Polo Championship. The 11-0 conference record marked the first undefeated conference season for the Stags since 1997.
CMS plays its first match of 2016 on Sept. 3 at the Triton Invite at U.C. San Diego. An Oct. 16 match at La Verne begins conference play for the Stags.
