Colin Scanlon Takes SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Honor for Stags

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Colin Scanlon earned the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Award for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team for events through Sunday, April 7, the conference office announced today.

Scanlon had two top-10 finishes at the UC San Diego Invitational on Saturday, which featured competitors from every division. He came in third place out of 25 competitors in the 400-meter hurdles with a 53.62, just barely off his PR (53.48) which ranks third all-time at CMS and seventh in the nation this season. He also came in ninth in the 400 meters with a 48.78, which moves him into the NCAA Division III rankings this season at No. 35.

Scanlon's honor is the sixth for the CMS men's track and field team this season, including two Field Athlete of the Week honors for Sarath Kakani and one from Kaden Cassidy. Ellis DelVecchio and Adam Sage have also been the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week winners for the Stags this spring.

CMS will be back in action this week when it competes at the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific, from Thursday-Saturday, and then also competes at a SCIAC Multi-Dual hosted by Whittier on Saturday.
