Hayden Beauchemin Takes First in 1500 Meters at Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team was in action in two different places this weekend, with distance runners competing at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational and others competing at the UC San Diego Invitational, with Hayden Beauchemin's first-place finish in the 1500 at Pomona-Pitzer highlighting the Stags' performance. 

Beauchemin took first with a time of 3:51.40, winning by just one-hundredth of a second in a battle to the finish against Quinn White of Pomona-Pitzer. Agustin Gomez De la Vega was second in the steeplechase at 9:31.73, follwed closely by Oliver Pick in third at 9:34.11. Daniel Fajardo earned a top-10 in the 5000 meters at 15:30.53.

At UC San Diego, Colin Scanlon came in third place out of 25 competitors in the 400-meter hurdles with a 53.62, just barely off his PR (53.48) which ranks third all-time at CMS. Nick Teresi (eighth, 48.71) also joined Scanlon (ninth, 48.78) earning top-10 finishes in the 400 meters.

The 4x100 relay team of Joshua Martinez, Nick Teresi, Evan Siegel and Emmett Stralka earned a 42.40 to place sixth, while Martinez was also 13th in the 110-meter hurdles with a 15.28. 

In the field events, Kaden Cassidy was just outside the top 10 in the hammer throw with a distance of 174 feet, 11 inches (53.31 meters). 

CMS will be back in action this week when it competes at both the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific and the third SCIAC Multi-Dual, hosted by Whittier.
