Ellis DelVecchio Takes SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Accolades for Stags

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Ellis DelVecchio of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team was honored with SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week distinction for events through Sunday, March 3, the league office announced this afternoon.

DelVecchio clocked the fastest 800-meter run in Division III in the early part of this season at the first SCIAC Multi-Dual hosted by Occidental, crossing the line in 1:54.39. He also anchored the winning 4x400 relay that finished with a 3:21.93, which currently places third in the nation.

DelVecchio was previously part of the 4x400 relay team for the Stags that finished second in the nation last year, with the third-fastest time in NCAA Division III history. He becomes the third different Stag honored by the SCIAC this season, joining Sarath Kakani and Kaden Cassidy, who have each earned Field Athlete of the Week distinction for their success in the throws.

CMS will be back in action this weekend at Occidental for the annual Distance and Sprint Carnival, and will next be at home on March 30 for the second SCIAC Multi-Dual competition.
