CMS Men's Track and Field Ranked No. 2 Nationally in Latest Ratings Index

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team is ranked second in the nation in the latest ratings index released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released on Tuesday.

The Stags feature the top 4x100 team in the country at this point in the season with a 41.08, which set a program record, and place in the top 10 in eight difference events. 

Christian Campbell currently places second in the 200 meters (20.92) and sixth in the 100 meters (10.47) after setting CMS records in both. Campbell also is part of the No. 1 4x100 relay with Quincey Williams, Nick Teresi and Joshua Martinez, and part of the No. 4 4x400 relay with Ellis DelVecchio, Kai Dettman and Jamie Cockburn

Sarath Kakani is also in sixth place in the shot put, Miles Christensen is seventh in the 500, Kai Dettman is eighth in the 800 meters, and Hayden Beauchemin eighth in the steeplechase. 

Just outside the top 10 are Henry Pick, who places 11th in the 1500, Truman Knowles, who is 15th in the javelin, Martinez, who is 17th in the 110-meter hurdles, and Noah Nevens, who is 17th in the 1500 meters, putting them all inside the top-20 requirement to qualify for nationals if it chosen this week. 

CMS is behind only Loras, which currently has three national leaders and nine placed in the top five. Rowan is third, George Fox fourth, and Williams fifth. 

CMS will be in action this weekend at the UCSD Triton Invitational and the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
