On Court: 4-Star recruit on tennistecruiting.net, ranked as high as 87 nationally senior year...played number one for Southern California in 16's Zonals in Salt Lake City, UT...winner of boys 16's Harper Ink designated tournament...four-year varsity singles player at Viewpoint School,  leading team to 2011 CIF title in Division IV and three second-round appearances in Division I...three time individual league champion (once singles, twice doubles) and reached semifinals of  CIF Individuals in doubles senior year...as a freshman made impressive debut at ITA West Regionals by winning his first three singles matches, including a Round of 16 upset of 5th seed Chad Stone of UC Santa Cruz...reached singles quarters before falling in three sets to teammate Glenn Hull...partnered Alex Brenner in doubles and went 3-1 in four matches...earned Fall singles ranking of #18 in the West Region...made dual match debut on Feb 20 at #4 singles and #3 doubles against Brandeis, winning rebounded to win his next seven matches...had keys wins at No. 6 against Carnegie Mellon, No. 2 against Southwestern, a rare 0-6, 6-0,6-0 win at No. 3 against Santa Cruz, and a regular season ending win at No. 1 against Hope International...played at No. 6 singles in NCAA Regionals but was unable to complete either before the matches were clinched...played in 38 doubles matches including 31 dual matches, primarily at the No. 1 position with Morkovine...spent much of the spring ranked among the top three teams in the west, with wns over Carnegie Mellon, Chicago, and Redlands, but was stellar scholarly record with his second ITA Scholar-Athlete and SCIAC All-Academic honors...appointed by Coach Settles as captain of 2017-2018 Stags Tennis...as a junior advanced to the third round of the ITA West Regionals as the #6 seed in singles with wins over Stone (UCSC) and Chadalavada (PP), before losing to teammate Avi Vemuri...as #4 seed in doubles with Oscar Burney, reached the ITA West Regional doubles final despite saving multiple match points in the first round...finished fall with records of 2-1 in singles and 4-1 in doubles, earning doubles rankings of #14 and #4 respectively Nationally and in the West...one of six Stags to earned fall singles rankings, coming in at #19 in the West...broke into singles lineup as an every match starter at Stag-Hen Invitational in early March...played No. 5 singles then moved to No. 4 where he won 13 of 15 dual matches in six weeks through April 21...had important wins over Wesleyan, Amherst, Tufts, Williams, Middlebury, and Gustavus in that stretch...also one of two Stags selected to play in the Ojai D3 tournament in late April, where he reached the Round of 16 of singles, and won the doubles with partner Nikolai Parodi...was undefeated in SCIAC play in singles and doubles and earned his 1st Team All-SCIAC honors...also earned ITA All-American honors for second consecutive year in doubles...at the No. 1 position with Parodi, the duo went 20-7 in dual match play and ranked as the top team in the West...earned a No. 4 seed at the NCAA tournament but lost in three-sets in the first round...finished 2018 with overall records of 19-6 in singles and 28-9 in doubles...finished with rankings of No. 2 in the West and No. 9 Nationally...again earned ITA Scholar-Athlete and SCIAC All-Academic honors for earning a 3.5 GPA or higher...appointed captain again for 2018-19...as a senior played in two fall tournaments, reaching the singles semifinal of the ITA Collegiate Grass Court Invitational in Newport, R.I. and the Flight A consolation singles final at the ITA West Regionals in Claremont...in Newport, lost to eventual champion and 2018 NCAA singles champ Grant Urken of Bowdoin in three sets, then lost to Urken's teammate Jerry Jiang in the 3rd / 4th playoff...at ITA West Regionals, Gordy had two match points in the first round of Flight A before falling to Caltech's James Wei...he then won three matches to advance to the consolation final where he lost to teammate Freddie Simental...partnered Jack Katzman in both tournaments and the duo won five of seven matches...lost an epic 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(8) West Regional Final to Caltech's Shankar and Wei after having one match point at 5-6 in the deciding set...made his spring dual match debut at No. 4 singles against Brandeis where he won in straight sets, and then never played lower than No. 3 singles for the remainder of the season...won his first six singles matches in straight sets, then won another nine straight between March 26 and April 20, including wins against Williams, Chicago, Gustavus and Middlebury...selected as one of two players to play in the D3 singles draw at the Ojai, where he won a round before losing in three sets to UC Santa Cruz's Chad LeDuff...in doubles played almost exclusively with Parodi at No. 1, except for two matches with Williams and one with Burney...repeated as D3 Ojai doubles champions with Parodi, the first CMS team to ever defend at the Ojai...completed the 2019 campaign with overall an singles record of 20-11 and an overall doubles record of 31-13, earning year-end national rankings of No. 43 in singles and No. 4 in doubles...as one of CMS' best all-court players, Gordy comes in at No. 10 all-time in combined singles and doubles matches played (223) and won (157) in a career...in doubles, he stands at No. 5 all-time in career matches played (141) and won (97)...Gordy's senior year was among the most decorated of any student-athlete at CMS, having earned ITA All-American honors in doubles for the third straight season, 1st Team All-SCIAC honors, CMS' Hank Krieger Award, ITA Scholar-Athlete and SCIAC All-Academic honors, the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, and was named to the Google Cloud At-Large Academic All-District Team.
