CMS Men's Tennis Opens 2023-24 Season At ITA Regionals

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Biszantz Family Tennis Center will serve as one of the host sites for the ITA West Regionals as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team gets its 2023-24 season underway this weekend from Friday-Sunday.

Singles play will get underway at 11 a.m. on Friday at both Biszantz and Pomona-Pitzer's Pauley Tennis Center, with Advik Mareedu of the Stags entering as the top seed in the field. Mareedu won the ITA Cup national singles championship last September in his first season with the Stags, and he will try to repeat the feat by winning the regionals for a second time. 

Tarm Rojansoonthon will be the No. 4 seed for the Stags in his CMS debut, after previously playing at Carleton. Caleb Wilkins of Chapman, who Mareedu defeated in the West Regional championship last year, will be the No. 2 seed and will open up against Josh Kim of CMS in the Round of 32.  

Anirudh Reddy will face one of the No. 5 seeds, Ethan Lee of Pomona-Pitzer, while Anirudh Gupta will begin against Ronald Chen of Occidental. 

Before singles gets started, doubles will have its first two rounds beginning at 8:30 a.m., when Mareedu and Rojanasoonthon will be the No. 3 seed and open up against Luke Feng and John Wehrle of Pomona-Pitzer. Kim and Reddy will be one of the No. 5 seeds and face Mayur Nookala and Radin Sadeghi of UC Santa Cruz. Gupta and Amar Kumar will face Hangyu Ai and Jakob Buhler of Cal Lutheran. 

The top two singles players and top two doubles teams will earn invitations to the ITA Cup, which will be held in Rome, Georgia in two weeks.
