CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Men's Tennis team earned 2020-21 Academic Team honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, while seven Stags earned individual ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction, the organization announced this week.
ITA Academic Team honors are presented to teams who earn a minimum of a combined 3.2 grade point average during the academic year, while Scholar-Athlete distinction is given to student-athletes who earn at least a 3.5 GPA.
The seven Stags who earned academic honors include senior Jack Katzman, junior Ethan Carroll, sophomores Ian Freer, Ian Habbestad and Michael Hao, and first-years Christopher Li and Philip Martin.
CMS did not compete during the 2020-21 academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When last in action, the Stags were ranked No. 2 in the nation when the 2019-20 season was halted with a 14-1 overall dual match record.
