Nikolai Parodi Earns SCIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Nikolai Parodi earned the SCIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week Award for matches through Sunday, Feb. 23, the conference office announced today.

Parodi won the award after taking all three singles matches in a tough field at the ITA Indoor Nationals in Saint Peter, Minnesota this weekend. After a tough three-set win against No. 12 Case Western in the quarterfinals, Parodi captured a 6-4, 6-2 win in the semifinals against No. 4 Chicago and then gave a dominant performance against Emory, winning 6-0, 6-2 in a match that the Stags would drop 5-3.

Parodi also won his doubles match against Emory (along with doubles partner Ian Freer), to account for two of the three points that CMS won in a closely-contested match that saw four of the six singles lines go to three sets.

It marks the second time this season that CMS has earned the Men's Tennis Player of the Week honor. Sophomore Nic Meister, who earned the other Stag point against Emory with a 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, earned it after the CMS season-opening road trip to Hawaii when he helped the Stags to a 3-0 record.

CMS will be back in action when it opens up SCIAC play on Friday with a road match at Cal Lutheran.
