On Court: Joins Stags Tennis after a decorated junior and high school career...ranked as high as #20 in Southern California Boys 18s, and #112 nationally on tennisrecruiting.net...played #1 singles for four years and was team captain for three at Francis Parker HS, where he led his team to one CIF title and three semifinals...also league individual CIF champion 2008-2010 and All San Diego Section 1st Team selection...as a freshman started strong at the USTA / ITA West Regionals, defeating 7th seed and national ITA Player To Watch  Deven Nerenberg (Santa Cruz) and 15th seed Sabel (Pomona-Pitzer), before losing in three sets to defending champion Nick Ballou of Cal Lutheran in the quarters...partnered fellow San Diegan freshman Cameron Bernhardt in the doubles, where the unseeded duo defeated teams from Chapman, Pomona-Pitzer, and Redlands to advance to the semis...finshed the fall with singles rankings of #45 nationally and #12 in the west, and a doubles ranking of #8 in the west...began the spring at #4 and #5 singles and #3 doubles (with Wei), winning his first three singles duals and two of three doubles duals...sat out nearly five weeks from Feb 25 to March 30 with Mono, then returned against #7 Middlebury...was the Stags' most consistent singles player, going 19-3 overall and 14-1 in duals...his three losses came at the hands of NCAA singles finalist Nick Ballou (twice) and Lunghino of Middlebury...partnered Wood at #1 and #2 doubles after starting the spring with Wei, going 9-7 in duals and 14-9 overall...Marino's 19-3 singles mark is good for the 5th best singles season winning percentage in Stags Tennis history...Marino also earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors the week of May 7-13, for his role in both of CMS' NCAA opening round victories...also named to 2nd Team All-SCIAC for his exceptional play at the #4 singles and #1 and #2 doubles positions during the regular season.

Personal: One of three freshmen Stags from San Diego...multi-sport athlete who started tennis at age 5, but also played baseball, basketball and ran track...quit track in middle school after high jumping over protective mat and breaking collar bone, scapula, and two ribs...played soccer for eight years, including his freshman and sophomore years at Francis Parker...enjoys all genres of movies and hosts weekly movie night in his dorm room.

Favorite Stag: Tom Isaak (CMC '91 - golf)...first golfer in the CMS Hall of Fame, now a tennis coach at St. Augustine HS
