Men’s Tennis Drop Opener in Texas

CMS Stags Tennis lost its opening match of a three match road trip in Texas against #8 Trinity University 6-3 on Friday. After two consecutive doubles sweeps in dual matches on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Stags managed to only win one of three doubles against Trinity. Juniors Guillaume Schils (Shaker Heights, OH) and Lawrence Wang (Orange, CA) won their second straight at #1, to improve to 8-4 as a team on the season.

Down 2-1 after the doubles, the Stags won the first set at #1, #3 and #4 singles. Sophomore Eric MacColl (Greenbrae, CA) won a very tough two setter at #3 singles, and freshman Ronald Wu (Los Altos, CA) came back to win at #5 singles after losing the first set 6-0. Wu's win came when the Stags were down 4-1, while MacColl's win came after Trinity had clinched the match and gone up 5-2.
