Sattley, Uyeno Sweep SCIAC Diver of the Week Awards

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Ethan Sattley of the Stags and Meilan Uyeno of the Athenas swept the SCIAC Diver of the Week Awards for events through Sunday, Jan. 14, the conference office announced today.

It marks the second time this season that Sattley and Uyeno have swept the two diving honors from the league, with the first coming after an opening-day meet at UC San Diego back in October.

This time around, the CMS duo pulled off the sweep after they each won both boards in a SCIAC tri-meet against Cal Lutheran and La Verne on Saturday. Sattley earned a strong 282.80 points in the three-meter dive to win by 8.5 points over teammate Jack Griffith, and added 291.25 points in the one-meter dive to defeat teammate Luke Vlases by 11.25 points.

Uyeno earned a tight battle for first in the three-meter over Maddie Greig of Cal Lutheran, prevailing by 9.15 points (258.25 to 249.10). She also took a win of over 25 points over teammate Anna Zerne in the one-meter, finishing with 233.10 points.

Cyrus Gaylord of the Stags just won the SCIAC Diver of the Week Award last week, while Alexis Romero has previously won for the Athenas.

CMS will be back in action on Jan. 27 when it hosts Redlands for a Senior Day meet.
