Conati and Limm lead Stags in Runaway Victory over Whitman

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Marco Conati (HMC) and Henry Limm (HMC) had their hand in seven of the Stags' 14 event wins on Wednesday afternoon as CMS routed the Whitman Blues 216-46 in Axelrood Pool. Conati went four for four on Wednesday, winning the 100 Back and 100 Free as well as swimming on the winning 200 Medley and 200 Free Relay teams. Limm took home three events of his own, winning the 1000 Free, 200 Fly, and 500 Free in the victory for CMS.

The other seven individual events were won by seven different Stags, showing the depth of the No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team.

The Stags opened the afternoon by taking the top three spots in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Conati, Grant Murray (HMC), Dave Makhervaks (HMC), and Daniel Hayon (CMC) took the top spot in the event with a time of 1:36.27.

In the first individual event of the day, Henry Limm started his strong afternoon off by claiming the 1000 Free by out touching Aaron Lutzker (HMC) in the final stretch. Limm and Lutzker were close throughout the race, but Limm's time of 9:59.37 bested Lutzker's 9:59.98 by less than a second.

Limm added to his victory in the 1000 Free with a win in the 200 Fly ahead of Whitman's Fisher Munro. Limm finished with a time of 1:59.59 while Munro took second in 2:02.97. Limm's final victory came in a tight one with teammate Jacob Eynon (CMC) in the 500 Free. Limm trailed slightly through 350 yards, but a late comeback gave the sophomore his third individual race of the day with a time of 4:49.87.

Eynon was also close in the 200 Free, but was topped by a teammate once again. This time it was Sam Willett (CMC) finishing in 1:47.21 to win the race by .23 of a second over Eynon (1:47.44).

Marco Conati earned his first individual victory of the day with a time of 52.10 in the 100 Back. He bested teammates Lutzker and Jackson Crewe (HMC) who finished in second and third with times of 54.42 and 55.09, respectively. Conati also took the 100 Free by 2.40 seconds with a time of 46.77.

CMS claimed the four fastest times in the 100 Breast with Tyler Welty (CMC) leading the charge with a time of 1:00.25. In the 200 Breast, it was much of the same story for the Stags as CMS held the four fastest times with Crewe leading the pack in a time of 2:14.40.

The Stags also put together a commanding performance in the 100 Fly. Aaron Lutzker won the event with a time of 51.71 and CMS held the top five fastest times in the race.

Other individual winners included Andreas Roeseler (HMC) in the 50 Free (21.61), John Jeang (HMC) in the 200 Back (2:01.50), and Kyrellos Ibrahim (CMC) in the 400 IM (4:17.93). The Stags finished off the meet with the top two teams in the 200 Free Relay. The team of Conati, Makhervaks, Patricio Madero (CMC), and Daniel Hayon (CMC) won the event with a time of 1:27.01.

The Stags will face the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen on Saturday when they travel to Thousand Oaks for a SCIAC dual at 10:00 a.m.
